Ceremony songs have been picked!!!

I am sooo excited to have finally get two songs out of the way! Matt's cousin is an amazing singer, he went to the same high school as I did which is the fine performing arts high school that produced such amazing talents as Short Stack (blergh!). But yes he has agreed to sing a couple of songs during our wedding ceremony and Matt's old neighbour said he could play guitar. I am really excited!

The songs are:

Walking down the aisle: More Than Words by Extreme
This song is actually something that Matt's neighbour said he could play really well. I had completely forgot this song existed so I checked to see if I had it already and I did. And I love it just as much as the first time I ever heard it! WINNAAARRRR!

During the signing: The Wedding Song by Angus and Julia Stone
When I found this song I melted. Angus and Julia Stone are just amazing!

I'm very happy with the song choices. We probably wont have any other songs for the ceremony because we'll be outdoors and after we're pronounced I think we'll just stay where we are so people can come to us when they give us their congratulations. Therefore we wont need a walking back down the aisle song.

Two really important songs out of the way! Now we just have to think of reception songs...

Invitations: Take 561

You may remember my original post about our invite draft. Well fogret about it!

I did end up designing it, had it all pretty and even made a mock up. I then took it to the post office to ask if my innovative foldy, non envelope invite was postable and it was! It just needed to be sealed on the edges so it wouldn't get caught in the sorting machine. Well, that was it, I couldn't figure out how I wanted to seal the sides so I put it in the too hard basket and decided to start again.

I swear I've been working on our invitations for atleast 3 months now. In that time I've shown Matt about 10 different mock ups that were all pretty similar with only small changes along the way.

I finally drew inspiration from a friend's brothers wedding invitation from a few years back. It now includes everything that I wanted from this post minus the z-fold/tri-fold because we ended up going with a pocketfold envelope!

When it came time to buying paper I seriously went all over town. All I wanted was shimmery white A3 Cardstock. The only place I could find what I wanted was from a local Newsagency and it didn't have enough. So I went back the following week and picked up some more after it had been restocked. Turns out I grabbed the wrong colour the second time and didn't get a receipt, so half our invites will be cream and the other half will be white. But who's going to care? Not me!

Yesterday I printed out most of the invites (we are waiting on a few addresses, so will print out more later), printed most of the labels and printed the envelope liners. All the stuff is now ready for my wonderful friend Kat to cut them out, construct the pocket folds, put them all together and send them out!

Kat has her own invitation business but I kind of took over most of the process and only left her with the annoying stuff. Being the wonderful friend she is though she doesn't mind so much. Lucky! Because I started on sticking the labels and liners on the envelopes!

Anyway I'll leave you with a sneak peek of our envelopes with the wrap around labels. I couldn't resist putting them on instagram!

Bad Teacher

On Saturday night some of my best girls and I had planned to go out to dinner and see the final Harry Potter. In the arvo I had dropped by Lora's to find that she had only just started watching Part I of The Deathly Hallows at 4pm, our dinner reservations were at 6pm so we could go see the 7:30pm session of HP. She hadn't seen Part I yet so she definitely had to watch it before we went to see the end and I decided to stay and refresh my memory. Needless to say we were late to dinner so whilst eating our meals we missed the 7:30pm session.

So we decided to save it for another day and go see Bad Teacher instead. I quite liked Bad Teacher, it was a good no brainer movie that you could just sit back and laugh at.

Basically it's about Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz) a grade school teacher who is ultimately a gold digger. In the beginning of the movie she gets dumped by her rich fiance then she decides to get another rich man to be her sugar daddy, she needs a boob job. She then spends the rest of the movie trying to find dodgy ways to fund her surgery and chasing after the new substitute teacher (Justin Timberlake) who comes from a rich family.

I LOVED the cast. It took me ages to realise that Elizabeth's room mate was Cam from Modern Family. There were actually alot of people in the cast who came from very popular tv shows like The Office, Community and How I Met Your Mother. I think because they were all so familiar to me I enjoyed seeing them play different characters.

The thing that irked me though is Elizabeth is ALWAYS wearing Christian Louboutin shoes. She's supposed to be poor but she parades around in designer shoes and fabulous clothes. I think if she was smart enough to sell her shoe collection she would have had the money for her surgery straight away, but then I guess we wouldn't have much of a movie then would we. There is one part where she looks completely homeless though.

Anyways, I dont want to give away too much and I'm not that good at reviewing things, so I'm just going to say great cast, funny storyline, not quite right costume choices, a little weird in parts but a fairly good movie 7/10 for me. Have you seen Bad Teacher? What did you think?

The Beauty Department

I just thought I'd take a moment to share with you one of my favourite blogs. The Beauty Department was created by Lauren Conrad and a couple more of her professional gal pals it gives you tips on make up, hair styling and beauty routines.

I find it really cool because if they ask readers about what Laurens next hair move should be, she actually follows through with the majority vote!

My favourite posts are the hair posts by Kristin Ess, they are so easy to follow and often great for everyday styles. I also love the make up posts by Amy Nadine, they have such useful tips!

Anyways I hope you take a chance to check it out and love it as much as I do. :)

We bought new cutlery and didn't know what to do with it all!

Our ring bearers bowl arrived!

Little heart badges all sewn up :)

Favor bags

Sorry about being AWOL, I've been busy but not busy. Well for the most part I've just been lazy and not motivated enough to blog.

Anyways the picture you see below is one of our favor bags. I've decided to do things a little bit different when it comes to our Bon bons. We're actually going to give them to our guests before the wedding. The reason for this is the bags will include our order of service, a menu, sparklers for the Sparkler send off, information of activities for in between the reception and ceremony and a few other goodies that would be handy during the whole course of our wedding.

I ordered the bags bulk from eBay and made my own zig zag stencil out of a cereal box which i then painted on the bags. I'm going to write each guests name on them too.

The heart is actually one of the felt badges that my sisters and I have been sewing. It's taped to the bag but Matt thinks people won't realize they are badges so I'm going to stick a little tag on it to tell people to wear the badge "as a symbol of our love".

Other things I was thinking of adding were fake moustaches to prompt people to use our photobooth, a box of matches for the Sparkler send off, tissues for the cryers and maybe a tasty baked goody of some sort in case people get peckish before dinner time. I was thinking about doing personalized water bottles like I did for my 21st but I'm not entirely sure. I'm also considering adding a mixed cd in for the guests ride home.

I'm also going to add a letter that Matt and I will write for each guest. The original plan for this was to personally hand deliver these to each guest so we get a chance to talk to everyone but I don't want it to take over our night so we're going to just leave them in the bag and still try to actively talk to each guest whilst still getting our dance on!

Anyways more to come. I promise.

Favour bags :)
