2012 - I'm keen!

It's New Years Eve and I have been up since 4am. I woke up to go to the loo and couldn't get back to sleep again >.< Lame. When it's party time, I'll probably be down for a snooze.

Anyways, 2011 has been such a big exciting year for Matt and I. Here's a little peek of what happened:
- It was the year for weddings, Matt's brother, one of my best girlfriends, and two of my girlfriends from college all got married this year. And of course we did!
- The year for weddings also meant the year of hens and bucks nights!
- I married my best friend. I know it's super cliche and all but we had the best most perfect wedding ever! All our hard work paid off. We seriously could not believe how smoothly everything went.
- My beautiful sister fell pregnant and had the cutest little boy, she also got engaged - and we were the first to know!
- Only had to visit the hospital three times this year: once for my silly hens night shennanigans (fell on my arm in a ten-pin bowling lane - those things are slippery, probably best not to walk down them), once because my brother was in a motorcycle accident (he was very lucky) and once to see my adorable little nephew. Fair effort!
- One of my favourite birthday surprises yet: Matt took me out for dinner, but actually took me to a hotel and we went for a Hot Air Balloon ride in the morning! :)
- MY BEST FRIENDS BOUGHT ME A KITCHENAID!
- We took our first trip overseas. It was amazing and can't wait to do it again.

Next year I'm hoping things will be a little bit more relaxed. My goals include:
- Getting my fitness and health into check: I did really well right before the wedding (minus all the hens nights and bridal showers where I stuffed my face and drank too much), but after that I totally fell off the wagon.
- Change my outlook on the way I spend money and save save save!
- Really explore my options for a new career path. I would like to do something more creative. Interior design is in my sights at the moment but I will research more to decide if that's what I really want to do.

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years! Bring on 2012!

I love Fridays. Because Fridays where it's at.

I love that when I was just about to write this blog that song started playing. Last day of work! Yippeee!
I'm the only one left in my office so I'm currently pottering around, putting things on desks, watering plants, cleaning out the fridge, recording my out of office voicemail message... Blah blah blah.

No work for two weeks! Yaaaaaay!

Procrastination & Instagram

Photobucket
So I have this mega pile of work to get off my desk before I finish work for the year tomorrow afternoon. Instead I am here posting my instagram pics. Oh well...

Photobucket
I decorated our office the moment it hit 1st December but I didn't really take any pics. So here is the front of my desk looking very festive indeed.

Photobucket
The other week I aimlessly wandered around the DFO in Homebush looking for something to buy when I saw this in the window of Peter Alexander. I posted this pic on facebook commenting on how uncomfortable it must be to sleep in. I was promptly told that people who buy things like this do not sleep in them. Ohhh yeah! Baha!

Photobucket
The funkiest desk fan I have ever seen, gifted to me by my Secret Santa.

Photobucket
Fruit platter that I prepared for our work Christmas party. I was very proud of my presentation!

Photobucket
Whilst on the topic of food, my ham, cheese & tomato toasted wrap for lunch yesterday.

Photobucket
Beautiful flowers gifted to me by my wonderful work colleague. Hopefully I can keep it alive :| It does inspire me to get gardening in my break though!

Photobucket
The other day we noticed my odometer was close to hitting 100,000 km's. Matt said you better take a photo when it happens. Yesterday on my way home from work I changed my trip so that I could keep an eye on where I was at and I had already missed it! So disappointing :(

Hump Day

Seriously, is it just me or is this week going super slow? Maybe it's just because I'm too excited for work to finally be over and for Christmas to come.

Anyways, here's a little something a great friend emailed me the other day.
Elf is quite possibly my most favourite Christmas movie ever.

I'm an aunty!

My younger sister gave birth to a beautiful little boy on Wednesday. After waiting a week after his due date I was so stoked to hear he was finally arriving. On his Daddy's birthday too! He must have known it would be the perfect present!

Me being a proud aunty!

I'm amazed at how quick her labour was. She was in hospital at 10:30am and had him at 1:35pm! Most people I have heard of had super long labours from 10-52 hours!

Free handed wrapping paper

I was home alone last night so I positioned myself in front of the tv, caught up a little on Downton Abbey, got gold and silver markers out and made this lovely wrapping paper. (I'm normally banished to the designated craft room up the other end of the house when doing stuff like this! ha ha)

I need to go buy some more silver markers now because I ran out whilst colouring in the Christmas trees! I love with the way they turned out and can't wait to do more. I don't think I'll add ribbon but I might still have to add tags, I've written the recipients name pretty small on them in obscure places so it might be hard for family members to find their pressies!

Liebster Award

This morning I came online to check out how my little blog is going and I find the amazing Natalie from In The Night Sky has nominated me for a Liebster Award! I really love reading In The Night Sky, I love watching the progress of Natalie's decorating after her renovations, I love all the creative idea's I get from her (totally painting an Erslev rug just like you did!) and I just love her style. Thank you so much Natalie for nominating me! I've only just really started getting into blogging and I get so excited when I see another follower and more comments popping up.

Liebster is a German word meaning "dearest" and the award is given to blogs with fewer than 200 followers.

The award acceptance has a few stipulations:
  1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
  2. Reveal the five blogs you have chosen and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
  3. Copy and paste the award onto your blog.
  4. Request that people you have sent the award to forward it on to their favourite bloggers.
The 5 awesome bloggers that I nominate for this award are:
MrsB from The Wifey Chronicles
Miss Directions
Reezy from Peanut Butter & Honey
Babybluez from S'Agapo
Jodes from Running in Cute Heels!

I really enjoy reading every single one of these blogs and I hope more people get to enjoy them too!

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

So cookie monster cupcakes have probably been kicking around the blogosphere since forever but when my bestie Laura saw them she said I HAD to make them!

Challenge

It has taken me aaaaages to actually get around to it, but last night I got my act together and finally accepted the challenge!

I didn't take alot of photos as I went along but the important ones are there. First I baked a batch of chocolate cupcakes and prepared some blue frosting. I was lazy and just used the Betty Crockers Vanilla Frosting with about 10 drops of blue food colouring mixed in. But I did make the cakes from scratch using this recipe from :: sweet treats ::

Photobucket
Blue icing and blue sugar sprinkles for a little bit of texture.

Photobucket
Eyeballs made from white chocolate buttons and chocolate chips stuck together with frosting.

Photobucket
Icing and decorating progress. Roughly ice the cakes with blue frosting, sprinkle them with blue sugar sprinkles, place the eyes where preferred and cut a chocolate chip cookie in half and place it where the mouth should go.

And now the moment you have all been waiting for...

The final result!
Accomplished
Mission Accomplished!

Button Christmas Cards

Here is a picture of what my Christmas cards look like! I'm very happy with how they look, just nice and simple :)

I made these by drawing three lines with little bows on the end for the "string" in silver texta, I then hot glued the buttons on the end to look like baubles and then I cut out a tag I found on google and glued it on the side and I was done! Easy peasy japanesey!

Unfortunately I've decided I wont be making Christmas ornaments for everyone this year. It's just getting too hectic! When I finish work for the year I'll make some for our own tree but I don't have time to make enough to go with the cards and actually get them out to before Christmas is over. It makes me a little sad :(

Feelin fresh

On Wednesday I went to my hairdresser and got my hair chopped off! I've had long hair for a long long time now and I just wanted something different and to feel fresh. My head feels all light now.

I really apologise that you have to look at my unruly eyebrows, I haven't had them done since the wedding :| will be fixing those up pretty soon!

Our Christmas Tree

I think it's a little sad looking but that's probably because I have total Christmas tree envy. I've been stalking the Christmas Tree thread on Vogue Forums and watching everyone post up their pics on FB. Everyones tree's look so beautiful!

But here it is! Our tree! Last year I went for a red and gold theme and this year after spending an hour or more in the shops deciding on a new colour theme, I went with gold and brown/bronze.

Notice the tinsel and mass amount of lights to TRY to give the illusion of extra bushiness. I guess there's not much you can do for a cheap $15 Coles tree! Next year I will definitely be buying a bushier tree.

Salt Dough Ornaments

Last night I decided along with Christmas cards, I will be sending everyone an ornament for their tree! I figured salt dough ornaments would be the way to go.

I've never made salt dough ornaments before (or remember if I had as a kiddywink)so I made a test batch first. I followed the instructions from one of my links on pinterest. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of flour, then you mix it all up into a dough, roll it out, cut up your shapes, whack it in the oven till they are hard and dry, then decorate to your liking!

It completely didn't occur to me that I was reading an American site so when it said to cook on 200 degrees for 4-6 hours, I cranked up the oven. To no surprise I completely burnt the first tray within an hour or so. (Farenheit is different to Celcius, derrr) Whoops! I didn't quite feel comfortable leaving the oven on overnight so I chucked the second lot of ornaments in the slow cooker with baking paper on high. I flipped them once and within a couple of hours they were perfect right before I went to bed!

I'll be making more over the weekend and actually decorating them so I'll keep you posted on how they work out!

Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String...

I am just a little too obsessed with brown kraft paper. I based alot of our wedding stationary around kraft brown paper and now I think I will wrap our Chrissy presents in it this year.

There is sooo much inspiration out there, I could go nuts in Pinterest!

Definitely will be recreating one or more of these over the silly season!

Today I...

Have been walking around the office barefooted because I broke one of my heels *sad panda*
Serves me right for being silly and rocking on them.

I also found a silly website. Who's cuter? Ryan Gosling or a puppy.
He is an attractive fellow but puppies win. Everytime. I love how the puppy photos are similar to Ryan's photos.

Bit of a nothing post from me today. But it's better than nothing!

Woo Hoo!

I just got our marriage certificate! :D

Let the official name changing begin!

Bouquet and Garter Toss

Even right up until the reception I was in two minds about doing the garter toss. I know they are good fun but I was just unsure, they are a bit naff and I didn't really want to show my leg off to everyone. But we were both very tipsy by the time it came around so we just had fun with it. I did tell Matt he wasn't allowed to lift my skirt up so he had to crawl under my dress, made for some funny photos.

Photobucket

There were two garters under there and he pulled out the wrong one so he had to go back down again :P

Photobucket
WINNARRRR!

Then came time for the bouquet toss.

Photobucket

I didn't realise how low the ceilings were so when I threw it up it hit the roof and fell straight to the ground. Was pretty funny at the time.

I'm very happy we did both the bouquet toss and garter toss, it was fun!
Photobucket

Apologies for the poor quality photos. I'll fix them up later.

Cake Cutting

Our cake was generously made by my friends mum. It was only the second time she had made wedding cake toppers and even though mine is a little porky, I think she did an excellent job of capturing Matt!
